Kreismuseum Osterburg

This regional museum for the Altmark occupies a long half-timbered house from the 18th century in Osterburg's old town. The former home and shop has kept most of its original room layout, and a ground-floor room with historic rounded arches is a highlight. The collection holds about 25,000 items, among them some 3,000 archaeological finds from the surrounding area. In the courtyard you can see parts of a palisade rampart and the timber framework of a 10th-century fortress.
