Ikonenmuseum Biedenkopf

Housed in Biedenkopf's oldest building, the Schenkbarsches Haus, this small museum shows icons and sacred objects from Russia, Greece, Serbia and Ethiopia. The core is Russian and Greek icons from the 16th to 19th centuries, with explanations of how they express Orthodox belief in images. Practice boards from painting schools and moulds for icon mounts show how icons were made, and another section looks at their restoration. A textile museum shares the same house.
