Gedenkstätte für die Opfer der Gestapo Wien

A memorial at Salztorgasse 6 recalls the victims of the Vienna Gestapo. The spot was once the delivery entrance of the Hotel Métropole, which after the 1938 Anschluss housed the state police headquarters. Many people persecuted by the Nazis were brought in through this back door for interrogation, then sent on to the regional court or to concentration camps. It is a place of remembrance rather than a museum with galleries.
