Burgmuseum Schlossfreiheit

A house dating from 1543, the oldest surviving dwelling in Tangermünde, holds this museum on the history of the neighbouring castle. The ground floor is solid brick, the upper storey a timber frame from the 17th century. Outside, look for the recessed-seat portal and sandstone Renaissance window frames, and the round medallions on the brackets showing relief portraits of the builders. Inside, the house is largely original.
