Besucherzentrum Welterbe Grube Messel

At the edge of the Messel Pit, Germany's oldest natural World Heritage site, the visitor centre opens onto a world of 47 million years ago. A permanent exhibition in the museum covers the site's history and fossils, and there is a bistro. The grounds are freely accessible, while the pit itself can only be entered on a guided tour.
