Wasserkraftmuseum Ziegenrück

The old Fernmühle in Ziegenrück has harnessed water power since 1258, and around 1900 it became the first run-of-river power station on the upper Saale. In this listed plant you can see how electricity has been generated from water for over a century. The Saalekaskade exhibition features a relief model and models of the five dams on the upper Saale, while another section uses working models to explain historic crafts. Demonstrations in the high-voltage room are a highlight.
