In the old town of Speyer, the birthplace of the painter Hans Purrmann (1880–1966) now commemorates him and his wife, the painter Mathilde Vollmoeller-Purrmann. The listed house dates from 1829 and was the family's home and decorating business, where Purrmann spent his youth and apprenticeship.
