Buchholz in der Nordheide, Niedersachsen
Four half-timbered houses, a brick house and a beehive stand around a village square at this open-air museum, and the grounds are freely accessible. The 1880 village school has its old classroom and an exhibition on heath farming and the railway that made Buchholz a junction. The thatched farmhouse Sniers Hus, from 1696, still has an open hearth fire with no smoke outlet.
