This museum in the former Palais Waldheim, now Schloss Monrepos above Neuwied, deals with how human behaviour evolved in the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic. It is also an archaeological research centre, and its findings are presented to visitors here. Extensive forests surround the palace, crossed by long-distance trails such as the Rheinsteig.
