Iwalewa-Haus, Afrika-Zentrum der Universität Bayreuth

Contemporary fine and popular art from Africa, the African diaspora, Asia and the Pacific is the focus here. Part of the University of Bayreuth, the house draws on a collection of more than 12,000 works, which it describes as the largest institutional collection of contemporary African art in Europe. Across about 2,300 square metres you will also find talks, film screenings, artist conversations and workshops. The name is a Yoruba proverb meaning character is beauty.
