The sculptor Ignaz Günther was born in Altmannstein, and this museum is devoted to him and his family. It also honours the artistic legacy of his forebears, who came originally from South Tyrol and settled in the Altmühl valley as carpenters, sculptors and painters of carved figures. It shows the craftsmen's background from which the sculptor grew.
