Deutsches Kartausenmuseum

The former Carthusian monastery of Maria Saal in Buxheim looks back on more than 600 years of history. The church is the main draw, with its choir stalls by Ignaz Waibl and stucco work by the Zimmermann brothers. You can also see how a Carthusian monk lived in his cell, under the motto that the cross stands firm while the world turns.
