Darmstädter Papiertheatersammlung

Paper theatres were a favourite parlour entertainment in the 19th century, and this Darmstadt collection shows why. It goes back to the teacher Walter Röhler, who gathered original printed sheets for building theatres as well as assembled stages. Among them are stage designs by the Darmstadt court theatre painter Carl Beyer. The city inherited the collection after his death.
