Stadtmuseum Hattingen

Set in former administrative buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries in the heart of Blankenstein, this town museum lies a short walk from the castle and the Gethmann garden. The permanent display traces Hattingen's history, from a mammoth tooth found locally and a loom to models of Blankenstein Castle and of medieval Hattingen. Grandfather clocks, chests, crockery, shooting-club banners and door beams carved with house mottos bring everyday life of the past into view. Workshops are offered for children.
