Malerstübchen Willingshausen

Willingshausen in the Schwalm region was once a gathering place for painters, and this museum tells that story. Its prints and paintings span every phase of the Willingshausen artists' colony, with works by Gerhardt von Reutern, Ludwig Emil Grimm, Carl Bantzer, Hans von Volkmann and Wilhelm Thielmann, among others. The colony began when Reutern and Grimm met at the Schwertzell castle, a meeting seen as a starting point for open-air painting. There is a museum café and a shop selling local books and the Willingshäuser Hefte.
