The old post office on Schloßstraße, between the market square and the palace district, now houses Neustrelitz's town museum, the town library and the Karbe-Wagner archive under one roof. The listed building went up between 1899 and 1901 on a site where the ducal mint of Mecklenburg-Strelitz operated from 1748 to 1795. The courtyard building at no. 12 survives from that time.
