Kleist-Museum
Frankfurt (Oder), Brandenburg
Heinrich von Kleist was born in Frankfurt an der Oder, and this museum is devoted entirely to him, his life and his writing. It also looks after the literary legacy of the poets Ewald Christian and Franz Alexander von Kleist, and of Caroline and Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué. The collection is housed in the former garrison school; Kleist's birthplace burned down in 1945, and what you see today was built up again after the war.
