On the Bleicher Ravelin of 1692 in the middle of Stade stand historic buildings gathered from the region. They include a post windmill of 1632, a horse-powered winding gear from the 17th century, a stone bake oven and the ornate Altländer gateway of 1791. The Altländer House, a marsh farmhouse of 1733 with a richly decorated gable, can be visited in the summer months.
