The Kunsthalle in Wilhelmshaven shows contemporary art in changing exhibitions. Its building on Adalbertplatz, from 1968 and designed by Harms and Sommerfeld, is sober and modelled on Bauhaus examples, with touches of Brutalism. The Kunsthalle itself dates back to 1913 and is the oldest cultural venue in the city.
