Schloss Rosenau
Rödental, Bayern
Set in a landscaped park northeast of Coburg, this castle began as a medieval manor and was remodelled from 1808 into a Gothic Revival summer residence. Inside, the living rooms are marked by strongly coloured wall paintings and original black-stained Viennese Biedermeier furniture. The young Karl Friedrich Schinkel supplied the first ideas for the pointed arches and tracery.
