A farmer-townsman's house of 1666, a timber-framed building with a storage loft on top, is the museum's largest exhibit. Departments cover house and prehistory, town and garrison history, crafts and art, farming and household life, and health care. The old rope-maker's building by the viaduct serves as a small branch.
