Limesmuseum Aalen
Aalen, Baden-Württemberg
This museum stands on the site of the largest Roman cavalry fort north of the Alps, covering about six hectares. It presents the archaeology of the Upper German-Raetian Limes and is one of the information centres for the UNESCO World Heritage site. An outdoor area belongs to it. It opened in 1964 as a branch of the state archaeological museum and was greatly extended in 1981.
