On Saarbrücken's Schlossplatz, this museum traces the history of the Saarland over roughly a hundred years up to about 1959, looking at culture, society, the economy, industry and technology. Excavations and the casemates of the old Saarbrücken castle also show how the fortress developed into today's palace.
