Writer Božena Němcová lived in this small house in Červený Kostelec from November 1837 to the end of April 1838. Newly married, she and her customs-officer husband rented a little flat in the house of the merchant Hůlek. Her months among the townspeople gave her material for the story Chudí lidé (Poor People), which also describes the house.
