Schloss Strünkede

This moated castle stands in a large park in Herne's Baukau district. Since 1938 it has housed the Emschertal Museum, whose collections cover the cultural and urban history of the area. The barons of Strünkede lived here until the end of the 18th century, and their castle is first mentioned in records in the 13th century. The park also holds the Stadion am Schloss Strünkede football ground.
