Ruhr Museum

This museum tells the natural, cultural and industrial story of the Ruhr region inside the coal washing plant of the Zollverein colliery. A big outdoor escalator carries you up to the entrance, and the permanent exhibition spreads over several levels. It runs from pre-industrial times through the industrial age to the Ruhr of today, and includes collections on archaeology, ethnology and natural history. There is a café and a museum shop on site.
