Bad Reichenhall's local history museum occupies the town's former granary. The main theme is salt production, alongside finds from the Linear Pottery, Celtic and Roman periods, local crafts, town history, geology and folk traditions. Among the highlights are the early Bronze Age ring-ingot hoards from Mauthausen near Piding, one of the larger hoards of that era in Europe.
