Museum Hohenzollern in Franken

Plassenburg Castle, high above Kulmbach, was the seat of the Franconian Hohenzollerns from 1338/40 to 1791, and the museum tells of their rule. The Schöner Hof, with its richly decorated arcades, has the feel of a Renaissance court, while the massive outer fortifications show the effort of staying politically independent.
