Holzknechtmuseum Ruhpolding

This museum in the Laubau, just south of Ruhpolding, follows the work of the woodsmen from the early days of the salt-works era up to the present. Outside, a open-air site of about 30,000 square metres holds forest huts that were moved or rebuilt from the area of the former Traunstein saltworks. Methods of getting timber out of the forest and working it are demonstrated there as well. The museum won the Bavarian Museum Prize in 2023.
