The Renaissance buildings of the Alte Hofhaltung, right beside the cathedral, hold Bamberg's history from prehistoric times to the present. You will find paintings, stone sculptures, crafts, clocks from the 16th to 19th centuries and coins. There are also astronomical and mathematical instruments, plus nativity scenes shown at Christmas.
