Grabungsmuseum Kirchhof

Beneath Coburg's Kirchhof quarter lie medieval remains, and this small archaeological museum brings them into view. You can see the foundations of a chapel belonging to a 13th-century Benedictine priory, high medieval graves and sections of the old town fortifications. Display cases hold pottery, toys, household goods, jewellery and coins from the Middle Ages and early modern period, while a reconstruction drawing and documentation explain the quarter's building history. The finds came to light during construction of an office building. Visits are by prior appointment only.
