Goethe-Museum Düsseldorf

Around 50,000 items from Goethe's era are held at this Düsseldorf museum: letters, manuscripts, first editions, prints, paintings, busts, coins, porcelain and glass. Nearly 50 of the drawings are by Goethe himself. The core is the private collection of the publisher Anton Kippenberg. The museum opened in 1956 and also houses an archive, a research library and an events centre.
